Why EFT is a Preferred Coaching Tool

In this blog, I want to address the most commonly asked question – why EFT works MOST of the time!

Let’s start.

What is EFT?

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique. It is also known as Tapping because it involves tapping the meridian points around the face and some body parts with the tip of your two fingers.
EFT Tapping is a universal self-help tool that can solve MANY problems – from business, weight loss, vetinary pets, a trip to dentist, trauma and much more.

It is a universal self-help tool for many reasons.

Why EFT is a Universal Self-Help tool?

The answer lies in the nervous system.

EFT works by resetting the nervous system and bringing it back into balance. When your nervous system is regulated, you feel calm, focused, and confident. But when it’s dysregulated—stuck in stress, anxiety, or fear—it becomes difficult to make decisions, take action, or grow your business.

Here are some benefits when you can reset your nervous system

  • Clear Decision-Making – Reduces impulsive choices and enhances strategic thinking.
  • Increased Productivity – Prevents burnout, allowing for sustainable work performance.
  • Better Stress Management – Helps you stay calm and focused under pressure.
  • Stronger Leadership – Enhances emotional intelligence and effective communication.
  • Improved Creativity – Encourages innovative thinking and problem-solving.
  • Better Client and Team Relationships – Promotes patience, empathy, and clear communication.
  • Higher Resilience – Enables you to handle setbacks with confidence and adaptability.
  • More Financial Confidence – Reduces fear-based money decisions and encourages abundance mindset.
  • Stronger Work-Life Balance – Helps set healthy boundaries without guilt.
  • Better Physical Health – Reduces stress-related illnesses, improving overall well-being.

A relaxed nervous system allows business owners to lead with clarity, confidence, and long-term success!

EFT and Trauma

Multiple studies have demonstrated that Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) are effective in addressing trauma-related conditions.

  • A meta-analysis published in the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease found that a series of 4 to 10 EFT sessions significantly reduced symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) across various populations.
  • Additionally, research highlighted in Frontiers in Psychology indicates that EFT meets the American Psychological Association’s standards as an evidence-based practice for treating PTSD, anxiety, and depression.

What is Trauma?

When someone mentions trauma, scenarios like sexual abuse, accidents, war, and other tragic incidents often come to mind. The truth is, we are all susceptible to trauma because it isn’t just about life-threatening events—it’s about how our nervous system perceives and processes experiences. Everyday situations like financial struggles, rejection, business failures, toxic relationships, or even childhood criticism can leave lasting emotional imprints. Trauma isn’t just what happens to us—it’s how it affects our sense of safety, self-worth, and ability to move forward.

Trauma in business can manifest in various ways, often linked to past negative experiences that create emotional and psychological blocks. Here are some common examples:

  • Financial Trauma – Experiencing bankruptcy, heavy debt, or financial loss that creates fear around money and decision-making.
  • Failure Trauma – A past business failure or major mistake leading to fear of trying again.
  • Rejection Trauma – Facing repeated rejections from clients, investors, or partnerships, leading to self-doubt.
  • Burnout Trauma – Experiencing extreme stress or physical breakdown from overworking, making it hard to trust yourself to balance work and life.
  • Imposter Syndrome – Feeling like a fraud despite success, often stemming from past criticism or unrealistic expectations.
  • Toxic Work Environment – Having endured a toxic business partnership, abusive boss, or negative workplace culture that affects current leadership and trust.
  • Legal or Ethical Trauma – Being involved in a lawsuit, compliance issue, or unethical business dealings that create fear around taking risks.
  • Public Failure or Criticism – Facing public scrutiny, negative reviews, or online backlash that impacts confidence and willingness to put yourself out there.
  • Team or Employee Betrayal – Having trusted employees or business partners betray, steal, or leave unexpectedly, leading to trust issues.
  • Fear of Visibility – Experiencing past ridicule, shaming, or criticism that makes it hard to market yourself or show up confidently.

EFT helps release the emotional charge around these traumas, allowing business owners to move forward with confidence, resilience, and a renewed mindset.

EFT a Great Companion Tool

EFT is often used with other self-help tools such as Law of Attraction, Hypnotherapy, and NLP because it helps clear emotional and energetic blocks that can hinder progress.

While Law of Attraction focuses on shifting thoughts and vibrations to attract desired outcomes, EFT removes subconscious resistance and limiting beliefs that may counteract those intentions.

In Hypnotherapy, EFT enhances the process by calming the nervous system, making the mind more receptive to positive suggestions.

With NLP, EFT works synergistically to rewire thought patterns, making it easier to adopt empowering beliefs and behaviors. By integrating EFT with these tools, individuals can accelerate transformation, achieve deeper breakthroughs, and create lasting change.

EFT can also be used with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because it complements the cognitive restructuring process by addressing both the thoughts and the emotional responses tied to them.

While CBT focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns, EFT helps release the emotional charge stored in the body, making it easier to shift perspectives. Tapping on acupressure points during CBT exercises can reduce anxiety, stress, and emotional resistance, allowing for a deeper and more lasting transformation. By integrating EFT with CBT, individuals can experience faster relief from limiting beliefs, phobias, and emotional distress while reinforcing positive cognitive shifts.

EFT is safe, non-intrusive and easily available.

EFT is universal and popular because it is safe, non-intrusive, and highly effective. It allows you to work through personal challenges without becoming emotionally overwhelmed, making it ideal for trauma recovery. Its convenience sets it apart—you can practice EFT anywhere—whether in the bathroom, your car, during a walk, or even before a job interview. Once learned, EFT becomes a self-empowering tool that you can use anytime to regulate emotions, reduce stress, and build resilience.

Limitations

While EFT is a powerful and versatile tool, it does have some limitations:

  1. Not a Replacement for Professional Therapy – While EFT can help with emotional regulation, deep trauma, and mental health conditions may require professional therapy or medical treatment.
  2. Effectiveness Varies – EFT works differently for everyone; some experience rapid results, while others may need repeated sessions or additional therapeutic approaches.
  3. Not a Substitute for Medical Care – EFT can support physical healing by reducing stress, but it does not replace medical treatment for physical illnesses or serious mental health disorders.
  4. Requires Openness and Consistency – EFT is most effective when practiced regularly, but some individuals may struggle with self-discipline or skepticism, which can limit results.
  5. Can Bring Up Strong Emotions – While EFT is designed to be gentle, some individuals may experience emotional releases that feel overwhelming without proper guidance.
  6. May Not Address Root Causes Alone – While tapping helps release emotional blocks, deeper work (such as therapy, coaching, or inner healing) may still be needed to fully resolve underlying issues.
  7. Limited Scientific Recognition – Although research supports EFT’s effectiveness, it is still not widely accepted in mainstream psychology and medicine.

Despite these limitations, EFT remains a valuable tool for emotional well-being, especially when combined with other self-care and therapeutic methods.

And if you have an impending court hearing to attend, I suggest that you avoid tapping on those specific issues right untill the case is over because as you work through those matters, it may bring up suppressed emotions, shift your perspective, or trigger an unexpected emotional release. This could affect your ability to stay composed, focused, and present during the legal proceedings. Instead, use EFT to manage stress and stay grounded, focusing on general calming techniques rather than deeply processing the legal issue itself. After the hearing, you can revisit those deeper emotions in a safe and controlled setting.

In conclusion

EFT is a universal tool because it works by calming the nervous system, creating a foundation for healing, clarity, and productivity. When stress and emotional blocks are released through tapping, the body shifts from a fight-or-flight state to a relaxed, balanced mode. In this state, healing happens more naturally, thoughts become clearer, and decisions are made with greater confidence. By regulating emotions and reducing overwhelm, EFT empowers individuals to take aligned action, improve well-being, and achieve more—whether in business, relationships, or personal growth.

A Brief History of EFT.

EFT is a self-help technique that combines the philosophy of Chinese Traditional Medicine – Acupuncture and Western psychotherapy.

The Chinese Traditional Doctors believe that illnesses stem from an imbalance in Energy (Qi) in the body system. Qi is a life force. A weak, stagnant Qi often makes someone ill and feeble to withstand life challenges emotionally and physically, and hence, it affects a person’s mental focus.

To restore the flow of Qi, Chinese doctors insert needles into specific points along the meridians, imaginary lines in our body system.

Acupuncture got American attention in the 1970s. An American journalist, while in China, needed an emergency appendectomy. Chinese Doctors used acupuncture instead of anesthesia to help withstand pain. The journalist’s recovery was so swift and complication-free. He then asked permission to observe how Acupuncture was performed at the hospital. Impressed by what he saw and experienced, he wrote an article in the New York Times for the American public and the scientific community.

Dr. Roger Callahan, an American Psychologist, experimented with acupuncture points on one of his patients, Mary. She had a phobia of water since she was little. Dr Callahan had been treating her using Western exposure therapy with little success. One day, he decided to try this technique on her but without the needles. Dr Callahan suggested Mary tap under her eyes with her fingers. After a few attempts, her fear of water went away.

Impressed by this remarkable outcome, Dr. Callahan expanded his research on acupuncture in Western psychotherapy, treating patients with PTSD and phobia. He named his discovery Thought Field Therapy (TFT).

TFT began to gain momentum among mostly clinical therapists. One of his followers, Gary Craig, simplified the steps so more people could benefit from TFT. This simplified step is called EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique. EFT became more popular because it offers similar outcomes with fewer steps.

People from different trades of lives are learning EFT to help themselves and/or clients to deal with mental health – stress, fears, anxiety, phobia, trauma, and depression, as well as others for weight loss, caring for pets, dentistry, and more.

How can EFT help Travel Lovers start a coaching business?

1. Overcoming Fear of Change or Uncertainty

Many travel lovers are drawn to the idea of a coaching business because it offers the flexibility to travel and work remotely. However, starting a new business often brings a lot of uncertainty—will the business succeed? What if clients don’t show up? Will I be able to maintain my freedom to travel while building a successful business?

EFT Benefit: EFT helps clear the fear of change and the uncertainty that naturally comes with entrepreneurship. By tapping on negative emotions like fear, doubt, or anxiety, travel lovers can release mental blocks that prevent them from taking action. This helps them step into their new coaching business with more confidence and less resistance to change.

2. Managing the Fear of Failure

Starting any business involves taking risks, and for travel lovers, there might be an added fear: What if the business doesn’t generate enough income to support my travel lifestyle? The fear of failure can cause paralysis, leading to procrastination, avoidance, or second-guessing decisions.

EFT Benefit: EFT taps directly into the emotional core of fear and failure. By acknowledging and releasing these emotions, solopreneurs can reduce the paralyzing effects of fear. Replacing fear with more empowering thoughts (e.g., “I can create a business that aligns with my love of travel and my expertise as a coach”) boosts motivation and encourages proactive steps to grow the business.

3. Clearing Limiting Beliefs About Money and Success

Travel lovers who are starting a coaching business may struggle with limiting beliefs around money or success. Common beliefs include “I can’t make enough money while traveling” or “Clients won’t pay for coaching because I’m not based in one location.” These beliefs can create significant barriers to success.

EFT Benefit: EFT can help identify and clear limiting beliefs that might be holding a travel-loving coach back from fully embracing their potential. Tapping on statements like, “Even though I believe I can’t make money while traveling, I choose to believe in my ability to create a successful coaching business,” shifts the mindset toward abundance, possibility, and success.

4. Building Confidence to Market Yourself

Many travel lovers might feel hesitant about marketing themselves or “selling” their coaching services. They may worry about being too pushy or not having the right “credentials” to attract clients. This fear of visibility can make it hard to take consistent action toward growing their business.

EFT Benefit: EFT works wonders for clearing any emotional blocks around self-promotion, marketing, or selling. By tapping on feelings like “I’m not good enough” or “What if people judge me for promoting my services,” travel lovers can gain confidence and learn to market their coaching business in an authentic and aligned way. It helps them feel comfortable sharing their value and expertise, which is essential for attracting clients.

5. Reducing the Overwhelm of Balancing Business and Travel

One of the biggest attractions of running a coaching business is the flexibility to work from anywhere, but managing both a growing business and a nomadic lifestyle can feel overwhelming. Solopreneurs may feel like they’re constantly “on the go” and worry that they won’t be able to manage clients or meet deadlines while traveling.

EFT Benefit: EFT helps release feelings of overwhelm by calming the nervous system and bringing a sense of focus and control. Travel-loving entrepreneurs can tap on the feelings of stress and confusion surrounding balancing business tasks and travel and replace them with a sense of ease, flow, and confidence that they can handle both. EFT helps to keep the mindset grounded, enabling them to enjoy their travels without guilt or anxiety about business obligations.

6. Building Resilience to Setbacks and Challenges

No business journey is without setbacks—whether it’s slow client growth, tech glitches while traveling, or struggles with creating the right business systems. Travel-loving entrepreneurs may face additional logistical challenges, like time zone differences or inconsistent Wi-Fi, that make them feel stuck or frustrated.

EFT Benefit: When faced with obstacles, EFT can help entrepreneurs release frustration, disappointment, and helplessness, replacing those emotions with resilience and creative problem-solving. With EFT, they can tap into a mindset that sees setbacks as temporary and solvable, not as roadblocks. This ability to bounce back quickly and maintain a positive outlook is crucial for long-term success.

7. Managing Fears Around Client Attraction

Travel-loving coaches may fear that clients won’t take them seriously because they aren’t based in one location, or they may worry that their unique lifestyle is a barrier rather than an asset. Fear of rejection or not being “enough” can prevent them from reaching out to potential clients or sharing their offers.

EFT Benefit: EFT helps dissolve fears about client attraction and encourages solopreneurs to step into their authenticity. Tapping allows them to let go of fears like, “Clients won’t pay for a coach who is always traveling” or “I’m not professional enough.” This clears space for more empowering beliefs like, “My ability to coach remotely is an asset, and clients are drawn to my authenticity and expertise.”

8. Improving Focus and Clarity in Business Planning

Starting a coaching business while juggling a love for travel can sometimes create distractions. Solopreneurs may struggle to stay focused on their business goals or feel scattered between different locations, time zones, and projects. Without a clear plan, it’s easy to lose momentum.

EFT Benefit: EFT helps solopreneurs clear mental clutter, focus on their priorities, and tap into clarity around business goals. By tapping on the stress of planning or the feeling of being overwhelmed, they can regain a sense of focus and structure, allowing them to break down their business goals into manageable steps. This ensures that they can build their coaching business strategically while still enjoying their travels.
